About this course

Every couple disagrees. What matters is how you argue and how you make up. This course gives you practical, step-by-step skills to turn the same old rows into calmer conversations where you both feel heard.

You will track your arguments to spot patterns, learn what happens in your body when a row overheats, and build a cool-down plan so you can pause safely and come back to talk. You will practise fair-argument rules, soft starts, listening and a five-step method for solving problems, then learn how to repair with real apologies and a structured repair conversation. A module on common flashpoints covers money, chores, family, phones, children, and how tiredness, hunger, stress and alcohol fuel rows.

It is for couples who feel safe with each other and want to argue less destructively, whether you take it together or on your own. The final module explains the difference between healthy conflict and abuse, including coercive control, with a private warning-sign checker and confidential New Zealand helplines.

Questions about this course

Is this course a form of couples counselling?

No. It is practical education about everyday conflict skills. If you keep getting stuck, the course explains when couples counselling may help and where to find it.

What if I think my relationship is abusive?

Then conflict techniques are not the right tool. Module 7 explains the warning signs, including coercive control, and has a private checker and confidential New Zealand helplines, such as Women's Refuge (0800 733 843). If you are in danger, call 111.

Will the course stop us arguing?

No, and it is not meant to. Disagreement is normal. The course helps you argue more fairly, cool down before things boil over, and make up well, so arguments do less damage.

Is the warning-sign checker private?

Your answers are saved only to your own account. If someone else can see your device, use a device they cannot access, and use the quick-exit and history-clearing tips in Module 7.

What do I get with this course?

7 modules with 21 short lessons (about 2 hours 10 minutes in total) and 5 interactive tools, including the Conflict cool-down plan, Fair-argument rules cards and Repair conversation script, for a one-off NZ$29.99 (GST included). Your tool results save to My Progress. A 10-question final check ends the course; score 7 or more for your certificate of completion. Written by Dr Aqsa Mukhtiar, PhD in Nutrition.
