About this course

Knowing what healthy food looks like is the easy part. The hard part is having a balanced meal ready on a Wednesday evening when you are tired, busy and the fridge looks empty. This course shows you how to plan a week of healthy meals in about 20 minutes, using the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating as your template.

You will build a real 7-day plan around your own diary, turn it into a shopping list sorted by aisle, stock a small set of store-cupboard staples, run an easy batch-cooking session and plan your leftovers on purpose, all while following Australian food safety advice on storing and reheating food safely.

It is for adults who cook for themselves, a partner or a shared house: busy workers, shift workers, people living alone and anyone who wants to eat better without spending hours in the kitchen. A downloadable 7-day meal planner, batch-cooking planner, shopping list by aisle, staples checklist, leftovers planner and quick meal cards are included.

Questions about this course

How long does it take to plan a week of meals?

The course teaches a 20-minute weekly routine. The first week or two may take a little longer, but once you have a rotation of breakfasts, lunches and saved weekly plans, many people plan in 10 to 15 minutes.

Is this a diet or weight-loss course?

No. It is about planning balanced everyday meals using the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. There are no calorie targets or weight-loss promises. If weight is your main goal, see our separate meal planning for weight loss course.

I live alone. Is meal planning worth it for one person?

Yes. Planning helps you cook once and eat two or three times, freeze single portions and buy only what you need, which means less waste and fewer last-minute takeaways.

Does it work for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. The planning method is the same. Beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, eggs and nuts cover the protein group, and fortified plant drinks with added calcium can replace dairy. Many meal ideas are already meat-free.

What do I get with this course?

6 modules with 18 short lessons (about 2 hours in total) and 6 interactive tools, including the 7-Day Healthy Meal Planner, Batch-Cooking Planner and Shopping List by Aisle, for a one-off A$32.99 (GST included). Your tool results save to My Progress. A 10-question final check ends the course; score 7 or more for your certificate of completion. Written by Dr Aqsa Mukhtiar, PhD in Nutrition.
