Menopause is your final period, usually recognised after 12 months without one. The years before it, called perimenopause, can bring changes to periods, sleep, mood, memory, body temperature and the bladder well before periods stop. Since 1 July 2025, Medicare has funded a menopause and perimenopause health assessment with a GP (MBS item 695): a longer consultation of at least 20 minutes covering your history, an examination, any tests needed and a care plan.
Our menopause courses are educational. They explain the options Australian health services describe, including menopausal hormone therapy (MHT, the name Australian doctors usually use for HRT), non-hormonal options and lifestyle changes, so you can have a clearer conversation with your GP or pharmacist. They do not recommend a treatment, and no food or supplement in them is presented as a remedy for symptoms.
Practical help runs through each course: symptom trackers that build a picture over several weeks, meal planners based on the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, strength plans, and letters and scripts for asking about changes at work. Food needs shift in midlife too: Eat for Health suggests women aged 51 to 70 have 4 serves of milk, yoghurt, cheese and alternatives a day, compared with 2½ at 19 to 50.
