About this course

Perimenopause and menopause affect a large part of the Australian workforce, often at the peak of their careers. Yet many people struggle in silence, take time off or leave their jobs because they do not feel able to ask for help. Managers are usually the first point of contact, and often feel unprepared.

This practical course gives line managers, supervisors and HR teams the knowledge and tools to help. You will learn the basics of menopause and how symptoms can affect work, and how anti-discrimination law, work health and safety duties, the Fair Work Act flexible working rules and privacy law apply in general terms, with pointers to the free information from the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Australian Human Rights Commission. Then you will practise a supportive conversation, choose adjustments that fit real jobs, including frontline and shift roles, and draft a menopause policy.

It is designed for organisations of every size, in every state and territory, and works well as part of an employer pack for all managers. A manager checklist, printable conversation guide cards, a workplace adjustments list and a policy starter template help you put it into practice straight away.

Questions about this course

Is this course legal training?

No. It explains the law in general terms so managers understand why menopause support matters and when to ask for advice. It is not legal advice. For specific cases, speak to HR, the Fair Work Ombudsman, your state or territory anti-discrimination body, or an employment lawyer.

Can we buy this course for all our managers?

Yes. It is designed to be bought as an employer pack. Each manager works through the course and their tools in their own account, and the policy starter template can be used by HR to draft an organisation-wide policy.

Does the course give medical advice about menopause?

No. It gives managers basic, accurate information from official Australian health sources such as healthdirect so they can understand and support staff. Managers should never diagnose or advise on treatment. Staff should be encouraged to talk to their GP about their health.

Is there a course for staff who are going through menopause themselves?

Yes. Our Menopause at Work course is written for women managing symptoms at work and asking for adjustments. It works well alongside this manager course as part of an employer package.

What do I get with this course?

6 modules with 18 short lessons (about 2 hours in total) and 4 interactive tools, including the Menopause-ready manager checklist, Menopause conversation guide for managers and Workplace adjustments list for managers, for a one-off A$34.99 (GST included). Your tool results save to My Progress. A 10-question final check ends the course; score 7 or more for your certificate of completion. Written by Dr Aqsa Mukhtiar, PhD in Nutrition.
