Hot flushes and night sweats are the most common symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause. They can strike in meetings, on the school drop-off or at 3am, leaving you flustered, damp and exhausted. This course gives you a practical toolkit to make them easier to live with, based on Australian health advice from sources such as healthdirect, Jean Hailes and the Australasian Menopause Society.
You will keep a two-week trigger diary to find your own patterns, build a 60-second routine for when a flush starts, and set up your clothes, bag, desk and bedroom so cooling is always close at hand. You will plan a cooler evening and night, learn CBT-based skills for the embarrassment and stress that often come with flushes, and find out what the evidence says about soya, herbal remedies and lifestyle changes.
It is for anyone having flushes or sweats around menopause, and for partners who want to help. The final module helps you prepare for a GP appointment and explains the medical options you can ask about, so you can make informed decisions with your doctor.
Learn what is happening in your body during a flush, how long they tend to last, and when sweats need checking by a GP before you try self-help.
