Hot flashes and night sweats are the most common symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause. They can strike in meetings, during school drop-off or at 3 a.m., leaving you flustered, damp and exhausted. This course gives you a practical toolkit to make them easier to live with, based on Government of Canada information and current menopause guidance.
You will keep a two-week trigger diary to find your own patterns, build a 60-second routine for when a hot flash starts, and set up your clothes, bag, desk and bedroom so cooling is always close at hand. You will plan a cooler evening and night, learn CBT-based skills for the embarrassment and stress that often come with hot flashes, and find out what the evidence says about soy, herbal remedies and lifestyle changes.
It is for anyone having hot flashes or sweats around menopause, and for partners who want to help. The final module helps you prepare for a doctor's appointment and explains the medical options you can ask about, so you can make informed decisions with your doctor.
Learn what is happening in your body during a hot flash, how long they tend to last, and when sweats need checking by a family doctor before you try self-help.
