Whether you are formula feeding from day one, moving from breastfeeding, or combining both, preparing a bottle safely is a skill nobody is born with. Powdered formula is not sterile, and small slips, such as an extra scoop, a poorly cleaned bottle or a bottle left out too long, really matter for a young baby.
This short course walks you through the CDC method step by step: choosing a formula without overspending, cleaning and sanitizing, preparing bottles with safe water (including the extra hot-water step for young or vulnerable babies), and handling night feeds, trips out and childcare. You will also learn responsive bottle feeding, what is normal with gas, spit-up and diapers, and how feeding changes up to 12 months.
It is for parents, partners, grandparents and anyone who helps feed a healthy, full-term baby. Printable cards, a cleaning and sanitizing checklist and a feeding log help you build a routine you can share with everyone who cares for your baby.
Understand which formula your baby actually needs, what the other products on the shelf are for, and what kit to have ready before the first feed.

No. All infant formula sold in the US must meet the same FDA nutrient requirements, so a store brand gives your baby the nutrition they need. Price and packaging do not make one formula healthier than another.
Yes, with care. The CDC says you can prepare bottles ahead and keep them in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Prepared formula left at room temperature should be used within 2 hours, and within 1 hour once a feed has started. The course explains the safe options, including ready-to-feed formula for nights and outings.
Yes. Use safe water from the cold tap, or bottled water, as your formula label allows. If your baby is under 2 months, was born early or has a weakened immune system, the CDC advises boiling the water and letting it cool for about 5 minutes before mixing. If you have a private well, have it tested first.
It gives a rough AAP guide and explains how to use the table on your formula label, but every baby is different. Responsive feeding, wet diapers and weight checks at well-baby visits tell you more than any single number.
