In January 2026 the US government released the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030, with a new 'inverted' food pyramid in place of the familiar plate. But how do you turn new guidelines into what goes on your plate tonight? This short, practical course explains the guidelines step by step, using the official numbers, and shows you how to use them for real meals, real budgets and real family life.
You will learn why protein now comes first, how many servings of dairy, vegetables, fruits and whole grains the guidelines suggest, which fats they recommend, and why they ask us to limit highly processed foods, added sugars, refined carbohydrates, sodium and alcohol. You will then practice building breakfasts, lunches and dinners, including mixed dishes like tacos, chili, stir-fries and sandwiches.
Your toolkit includes printable guideline cards, a meal balance checker, a hand-portion guide card, a healthier swaps list and a 7-day tracker. It is ideal for anyone who wants a simple, trustworthy starting point for healthier eating.
What the new guidelines are, where they come from, who they are for, and how to read the new pyramid as a pattern of eating over time.

Understanding the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines (the New Food Pyramid), 5 modules, completed October 6, 2026
The 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines use a new 'inverted pyramid' picture and do not mention MyPlate. You may still see the plate icon on older materials and some websites, but the new guidelines are the current national advice.
No. It explains the official US guidelines and how to use them for everyday meals. It does not set calorie targets or promise weight loss. If you want to manage your weight, talk to your doctor about the support available.
Yes. Protein can come from eggs, dairy, beans, lentils, tofu, nuts and seeds, and plant drinks can be chosen unsweetened and fortified. Vegans may need to pay extra attention to nutrients such as vitamin B12, iodine and calcium, so it is worth talking to your doctor or health care provider.
Children aged 2 and older can share balanced family meals. The course flags where children's needs are different, such as no added sugars for young children, none recommended for ages 5 to 10, full-fat dairy and lower sodium limits. For babies and toddlers, follow your pediatrician's advice.
5 modules with 12 short lessons (about 1 hour 10 minutes in total) and 5 interactive tools, including the Printable Dietary Guidelines Cards, Meal Balance Checker and Hand-Portion Guide Card. Your tool results save to My Progress. A 10-question final check ends the course; score 7 or more for your certificate. Price: $12.99 (before any sales tax).
