Everyone goes through stressful spells, and feeling worried, irritable or flat at times is part of life. The NHS describes five steps anyone can try to look after their mental wellbeing: connect with other people, be physically active, learn new skills, give to others, and pay attention to the present moment. Every Mind Matters, the NHS mental wellbeing website, also has a free personalised plan.
Our courses build on the same ideas with structured, practical exercises: stress maps, worry diaries, thought records that draw on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), anger logs and short guided audios for mindfulness. They teach skills for everyday stress. They are not therapy and are not designed to manage a diagnosed mental health condition.
In England you can refer yourself to NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression without seeing a GP first. Elsewhere in the UK, your GP can tell you about local psychological therapies. It is always worth talking to a GP if low mood, anxiety or stress has lasted for a few weeks or is getting in the way of daily life.

No. They teach self-help skills for everyday stress and worry. Therapy is delivered by a trained professional who can assess your situation, such as through NHS Talking Therapies.
Talk to your GP or therapist first. The skills may sit well alongside your care, but they do not replace treatment, and you should never stop prescribed medicine without advice.
Cognitive behavioural therapy looks at how thoughts, feelings and actions affect each other. Some exercises, such as thought records, draw on its principles, but taking a course is not the same as having CBT with a therapist.
The core practices last 5 and 10 minutes, so they fit into a lunch break or the time before bed. A tracker records how often you practise.
Your tracker entries are saved to your own account. Our privacy policy explains how this information is stored and how to download or delete it.
Pick one of the NHS five steps: message a friend, go for a short walk, try something new, do something kind for someone, or spend a few minutes noticing what is around you.
