About this course

Hot flushes in meetings, broken sleep before early shifts, brain fog in a job you know inside out: perimenopause and menopause often arrive at the busiest point of a working life. Many women struggle on in silence, or think about cutting their hours or leaving, without knowing what support is available.

This practical course helps you understand your symptoms, track how they affect your working day, and try simple strategies for heat, energy and focus. It explains your rights at work in plain English, including the Equality Act 2010 and Acas guidance in general terms, and walks you through choosing adjustments, talking to your manager and putting your request in writing.

It is for women in any job, whether you work in an office, a hospital, a school, a shop or from home. A symptom-at-work diary, an adjustments ideas list, printable conversation script cards and a ready-to-fill request letter help you go from coping alone to agreed support.

Questions about this course

Do I have to tell my employer I am going through menopause?

No. You choose whether to tell your employer and how much detail to share. But if you want adjustments, your employer will need to understand how your symptoms affect your work. You can describe the effect, such as overheating or broken sleep, without giving medical details.

Is this course legal advice?

No. It explains the law in general terms so you feel confident asking for support. For advice on your own situation, contact Acas, your union, Citizens Advice or an employment solicitor. In Northern Ireland, contact the Labour Relations Agency.

Will this course tell me whether to take HRT?

No. It explains the main options you may hear about, so you can have a good conversation with your GP. Decisions about HRT or any other treatment are for you and your GP or pharmacist.

Can my employer buy this course for staff?

Yes. Employers can buy seats for staff as part of a menopause support programme. Each learner's diary and letter are saved privately to their own account and are not shared with their employer.

What do I get with this course?

6 modules with 18 short lessons (about 2 hours in total) and 4 interactive tools, including the Adjustments request letter, Symptom-at-work diary and Manager conversation script. Your tool results save to My Progress. A 10-question final check ends the course; score 7 or more for your certificate. Written by Dr Aqsa Mukhtiar, PhD in Nutrition.
