Toddlers are busy, growing fast and often fussy, and the healthy eating rules for adults do not quite fit them. This course explains, in plain language, what children aged 1 to 4 need from food and drink, based on HSE advice and the Department of Health Healthy Eating Guidelines for 1 to 4 year olds, with their own Children's Food Pyramid.
You will learn how much toddlers really eat, how to build a day of three meals and two snacks, which milks and drinks to choose, how to get enough iron and calcium, and what the HSE advice on vitamin D drops from Halloween to St Patrick's Day means for your family. You will also find practical ways to widen the range of foods your child accepts and keep mealtimes calm and safe.
It is for parents, grandparents and carers of toddlers who want clear, practical guidance. Four tools come with it: a toddler portion guide, a daily meals and snacks planner, a vitamin D drops checklist and a two-week food variety tracker.
Why toddlers (aged 1 to 4) need a different style of eating from babies and adults, and the five food groups that build a toddler's day.
