Maybe your mum has had a fall, your dad's post is piling up, or you just have a feeling that things are getting harder for them. This course helps you turn that worry into a calm, practical plan, with your parent involved every step of the way.
You will learn how to spot changes early, how to raise the subject kindly, how to apply for HSE home support, and how the main care and housing options compare. You will also learn the basics of how nursing home care is paid for under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Fair Deal), which payments and supports are often missed, how to get more from appointments and hospital discharge, and how to plan ahead with an enduring power of attorney.
Along the way you will build a needs checklist, a care options comparison sheet, an appointments log and a family responsibilities planner. The course is for adult children, stepchildren, nieces, nephews and anyone supporting an older relative, whether you live next door or at the other end of the country.
