Our Australian courses use the guidance you will hear from your GP, midwife or child and family health nurse: the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, the NHMRC Infant Feeding Guidelines, ASCIA advice on introducing common allergy foods to babies, the NHMRC guidelines on alcohol and Australia's physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines.
Lessons talk in serves rather than portions, show energy in kilojoules and teach the labels you see in Australian supermarkets: the Nutrition Information Panel, the Health Star Rating and allergen labelling. Where advice differs between states and territories, such as school canteen policies, the lesson says so.
Each course page lists who the course suits, what to check with a health professional first and the official sources it is based on.
If you want to eat better in general, start with Understanding the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. If you have a specific goal, such as starting solids, pregnancy or menopause, choose that topic and start with its Foundation or Focused course.
